ABOUT

My name is Esther Titilayo Akinola, Psychotherapist and founder of Safe. Heard. Seen. My training spans a BSc in Psychology, an MSc in Cognitive Neuroscience, and a Postgraduate qualification in Counselling Psychology. Three disciplines that together shape everything about how I work. My clinical journey has taken me across two ends of a wide spectrum. From primary schools where children were struggling in ways nobody had yet named, to NHS CAMHS, residential care, and inpatient addiction units where adults were often still carrying something unaddressed from childhood. That taught me one thing I carry into everything I do. What we don't address early rarely disappears. It simply finds another way out. This is why I work with young people before things reach crisis point. Why I equip parents with understanding, not just advice. And why I believe psychological knowledge should be accessible to everyone, not just those who find their way into a therapy room. I work integratively, drawing on Humanistic, Trauma-Informed, CBT, Compassion-Focused, Psychodynamic, Narrative, and Play-based approaches. But I don't apply a formula. I pay attention to the person in front of me and let that shape how we work. I also have clinical experience and understanding of cultural nuances, faith, and neurodiversity. I believe the therapeutic relationship is not just the backdrop to the work. It is the work, and I want everyone who works with me to leave not just feeling better, but understanding themselves better, because that understanding is where real change begins.
